Celebration in May

CELEBRATING
20 Years of Art!

Time flies and here we are 20 years later, still creating and sharing our art!  The history of Ashland Art Works is a fascinating one, from a group of mudslingers in the back barn to a diverse collection of artists with 4 galleries!

We are all very appreciative of the support and patronage we have received over the past 20 years from our local community as well as visitors to the valley.

All summer AAW will be hosting monthly events (keeping within current guidelines for gatherings).

Featured Artists in May

Join us on Friday, May 7th from 3:00 to 6:00 for an Artists Reception
and an opportunity to visit with our artists
Connie Simonsen and Roxanne Evans Stout.
(Suzanne will be unable to attend)
(Appropriate face masks are required.)

Connie Simonsen

Hand Painted Silk Scarves

Connie  expresses her vision through color while painting in an abstract way on silk. Finding symbolism inspired by nature, be it from petrified wood, depths of the ocean, or skies. She avoids toxic compounds, the use of water based resist and other similar type products is very important to her. Studied with Master Silk Painters from Silk Painters International (SPIN) workshops she attended in Santa Fe, NM and was awarded the “Artist’s Creativity Award” for her entry; Arrowmont Art School, Gatlinburg, TN; and Mendocino Art Center in California.

The events of the past year have forced changes in most artists she is acquainted with, and she is no different.  Talk about a butterfly’s metamorphosis from a caterpillar! The warmth of this Spring provides abundant opportunities for growth which have given her the impetus to break out of her shell placing more emphasis on creating her art.

Roxanne Evans Stout

Mixed Media Paintings

I live and create in the beautiful Pacific Northwest and the mountains and the river lands that surround my home are my constant inspiration. I share my art in workshops throughout the United States and abroad, in person as well as online.  My work has been published and shown internationally.

Through my art I would like to convey the feeling of connecting, timelessness and re-creation. My two best-selling books are available on Amazon Books and provide unlimited inspiration to my students!  In addition to my books, I design stencils for StencilGirl Products in the US.

As an artist I am constantly learning and growing.
Art is my passion, my love, my soul.

Suzanne Etienne

Acrylic Paintings

Suzanne uses paint with abandon, giving joy and pop to her paintings!  Table-scapes and vignettes filled with quirky objects – bold, bright tablecloths, flowers and books – cats and birds – all holding a moment in time.

Life, wisdom, heart and dreams are Suzanne’s focus now. Anticipating renewal of spring, with warmth and abundance.
